In the Middle East, water is at the center of an environmental crisis. But cooperation is restoring hope.

We are Jordanian, Palestinian and Israeli environmentalists working together to protect our water — and our future.

The Middle East water crisis knows no borders.

In the most water scarce region on the planet, climate change and conflict have made a problematic situation even more desperate.

DRINKING WATER SHORTAGE

Water scarcity and climate change combine to create and existential threat to the people in this region.

BORDERS AND CONFLICT

In this region, all water comes from shared resources, which means it’s essential to work across borders for solutions to be possible.

JORDAN RIVER DEVASTATION

This once-mighty waterway is jeopardized by climate change and pollution, while Israel, Jordan, and Syria each take as much water as they can.

EcoPeace brings neighbors together to create shared solutions.

Since we all share a single ecosystem, protecting water sources requires cooperation across borders.

WE WORK
FROM THE BOTTOM UP

Our bottom-up approach aims to educate local constituencies to call for, and lead, necessary cross-border solutions to regional water issues.

WE WORK
FROM THE TOP DOWN

Our top-down programs include research, publication of policy briefs, and holding events that advance our policy recommendations.

OUR IDEAS
ARE GOING GLOBAL

We share our vision of environmental peace building and sustainable resource management to other water-related conflict areas across the globe.

There is good news from the Middle East!

Fresh water can flow and peace is possible.

Why EcoPeace?

Water is at the center of an environmental crisis in the Middle East. In the most water-scarce region on the planet, climate change and conflict have made a problematic situation even more desperate.

Water can be a source of either conflict or collaboration. At EcoPeace, we believe real change is possible when we all work together. So we bring together Jordanians, Palestinians, and Israelis to create shared solutions, taking a bottom-up approach to educate local constituents, as well as a top-down approach to advance vital policies.

The good news is that it’s working! Thanks to your support, students are coming together across borders, leaders are taking action and real progress is being made.

Real change is possible when we all work together. And that includes you!
