February 22nd, 2019 Conference on the Health and Sanitation Crisis in Gaza

On February 22nd EcoPeace Israel office organized a conference with Ashkelon Academic College’s Department of Public Health. Prof. Nadav Davidovich from Ben Gurion University presented the findings of a report which discusses the crisis in Gaza and the dangers of the spread of resistant bacteria, contamination of seawater and drinking water, air pollution and the impact of the ongoing violence on the mental health of Gazans.

The conference included a panel with a Member of Knesset, mayors and heads of regional councils surrounding the Gaza Strip and a second panel of experts to discuss the main issues further. Over 100 people from Ashkelon, and surrounding towns participated in the conference. The conference had a strong social media presence and was covered by several Israeli media outlets.  See links for coverage in Hebrew and English.

Nov. 12-13, 2018 - EcoPeace Annual Conference

On November 12-13, 2018, EcoPeace Middle East held its Annual International Conference on the shores of the Dead Sea in Jordan. The conference was titled “Water, Energy and Climate Change Security: Overarching Issues of Common Threats.” The event gathered over 180 high level government representatives, academia, local authorities, activists, business people from Israel, Palestine and Jordan, together with experts from the international community

Our aim was to create opportunities for participants to identify ‘win-win’ situations for their respective communities and the region as a whole. The urgency and self-interest of working together to secure a more sustainable, just and peaceful future could not have been heard more clearly through out the two day event.
